AHDRAs My Backyard - Location Change UPDATE
It's official. My Back Yard is changing locations, and although it is no longer in my back yard, it is in several members' back yards. We are moving to Galena, Ill. at the Shenandoah Riding Center. 200 N. Broedrecht Road . Same Vets, Dr. Elford and Dr. Livesy. Same distances. Same great awards and team competition. Same leg 2 of AHDRA's Triple Crown award. AND AUNTIE LOIS FUDGE. Camping is primitive, no electric, but plenty of water hydrants. Pens are allowed but parking strictly adherent to the Parking Nazi's instructions. There are about 20 stalls available with reservations at $15/night. Questions can be addressed to Lori Windows, 815-878-4555 or 815-699-2318 or Kickbuttshaman1@gmail.com or Jim Andriakos email@example.com
Oak Leaf Run - 75 Mile Ride UPDATE

DRAWARAMA - Cancelled
With the current weather situation the decision has been made to cancel the ride for this year
DRAWARAMA - Weather Updates
Spoke with the DNR and they will be assessing the Northern Kettle trails on Monday and making a decision on whether they will be open or not for DRAWARAMA. Please watch for any updated info. We will get you the final decision as soon as possible. Thanks
Oak Leaf Run 75 Mile Endurance
Oak Leaf Run will be adding a 75 mile ride on October 15th
Let the count down begin. 10 days to DRAWARAMA! Still have a few open pens for Thursday and/or Friday night, but they are filling quickly. If full, we will have to try putting horses in the sheltered stalls (no longer first come, first served - gotta go through management to get one now); however, rigs will be in the group site and away from their equine friends. Pray for good weather!!
It's with a really heavy heart that we announce now that we need to cancel the ride. I spoke with Jason Quast from the DNR this morning, who stated at this point he *plans* to open the horse trails back up on Wednesday, but said if we receive another inch of rain this week, he will close them again. He will make the decision day by day. According to Jason, the section between Highway A and Kettle Moraine Drive is saturated (that's where the known bog is) as is Jersey Flats. He described the saturated sections as "greasy" - meaning, the top inch of soil is muddy and prime for slipping. He expressed that his main concern is safety of riders and horses.
Areas that were supposed to have been improved this year, including the bog, have not had necessary repairs.
He said given the forecast (40% chance of rain tomorrow, 90% chance all day and night Friday with 1/2" of rain predicted), he felt there is a 50/50 chance of the trails being open next weekend.
That's just not good enough odds, given the number of people I know are traveling a great distance to compete in the 100.
We were really looking forward to having TEN people (that we know of) enter the 100, and seeing the rest of our ride family during one of the most beautiful and fun weekends of the whole year.
Of course, now that we've made this decision, the forecast will totally change and it will be beautiful next weekend. But, I'd really regret the opposite, that we decided to risk it and then the trails close again on Friday. That would truly suck.
We'll save the t-shirts for next year, and perhaps we can plan something really special given it will be the 50th running now on the 50th anniversary, instead of the 50th running on the 49th anniversary.
Please help us spread the word - lots of people to notify!!! Thank you!!!

Run For The Ridge Location Update
Run For The Ridge, is moving it's location this year. There are a couple bridges at Fort Ridgely that need work, so we're changing the venue. Run For The Ridge will be held at the Upper Sioux Agency State Park, the same place as Run For The Cactus. The mileages will be the same as listed on the flyer.

AHAM/Hopkins Creek Ride - July 9 & 10 - Detour!!!
Lucas Road bridge just before the entrance to the campground is being rebuilt by the county, requiring the following detour:
From the south, stay on US 131 N, the freeway will end and it will turn into a 2 lane highway, continue north to County Line Road (there is a huge Coyne propane tank at the intersection). Turn right, go 4.1 miles, turn right onto Lucas Road; go 3.9 miles, camp is on your right. From the north on US 131 S, turn left onto County Line Road and continue as above. The roads are all paved.
Unfortunately, the Distance Depot will not be able to be at Endure this year due to a conflict with joyous family commitments.
Electric pens are not permitted at the Questing Hills Campground Endure uses as ride camp - you can build a pen that is roughly the size of the hitching area, but please do not use electricity for your pen. We have had some recent discussions with the park management and want to ensure that we can come back in the future.
Thank you! Endure Ride Management
